"CONFESSIONS..." is a selection of the Cream of the Crop of Little Joe's columns that were published in two Southwest Florida newspapers, the Islander, a Breeze publication owned by Ogden Newspapers and The News-Press, a Gannett newspaper. News-Press readers elected Joe "Best Columnist of Southwest Florida Runner-up, 2007."
Most of the columns focus on Hollywood Celebrities like Dirty Harry's alter ego, Clint Eastwood; Hollywood writer Sydney Skolsky; Movie Sex Goddess Jayne Mansfield; dear friend Telly "Kojak" Savalas; Cheers Bartender Nick "Coach" Colosanto; Kung Fu's Philip Ahn; Top 40 Countdown King Casey Kasem; Screen Beauties Connie Stevens, Stephanie Powers, Debbie Reynolds and Judy Garland; Comic Icon Red Skelton; the Comedy Team of Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara; Tony Curtis and Larry Storch. Also meet a not-so-reclusive Howard Hughes! And everyone will certainly enjoy an intimate look at the life of Character Actor Paul J. Micale, Little Joe's father, who with more than a hundred Movie & TV credits is best remembered as Father Carmine in the Rocky series of movies that starred Sylvester Stallone, Talia Shire and Bert Young.
The STARDUST section of the book contains sketches on the careers of more than 300 Celebrities! Readers will enjoy new, first-hand and never-before-published information on many of their (and Little Joe's) favorite personalities.
In 1999, Little Joe and wife Ginny moved from Beverly Hills and reestablished their California-chic hair salon, Beverly Hills Hair Design, on Sanibel Island - "the Beverly Hills of Southwest Florida."
In September 2002, the local newspaper was preparing a commemorative issue for the First Anniversary of 9-11-01. Joe wanted to memorialize a former client and dear friend, Mark "Mickey" Rothenberg, who lost his life on American Flight 93. They asked Joe if he would like to write a column of remembrance. The column became the First of an ongoing series that focused on Little Joe's fabulous, Star-Studded Hollywood career.
With so many millions of movie-loving, diehard Hollywood fans in America and covering the entire world, CONFESSIONS... of a HOLLYWOOD HAIRSTYLIST is expected to top the Best Seller lists. The book is projected to be an iconic favorite for years to come as it contains insider stories that only a celebrities' hairstylist like Little Joe can tell! Each story is compact; there's humor, irony, tears of joy and sorrow, and rest assured - all are interesting and intimate, for the added bonus is that Little Joe Micale, like his Grampa Dominic, is a born storyteller.
It's all in "CONFESSIONS..." along with so many more of the Stars - did we mention Frank Sinatra? - who graced Hollywood's Silver Screen from the '60s through today. More to come? Bet on it.
"The scope and sweep of Little Joe’s panorama of celebrity acquaintances and knowledge left me breathless and gasping for more.
...even if you are not, as I am, a junkie for Hollywood movies of the last century, Confessions of a Hollywood Hairstylist will transport you to the real magic of yesterday’s Hollywood.”
